Summary |
Woodward's Reminiscences is a treasue of collected writings about some of the first events in America-the early history of Alabama. These are the personal recollections of General Thomas W. Woodward, adventurer and soldier, who lived the times-much of it actuall with the Indians. He knew personally the great-great grandsons of Indians who had seen DeSoto on his march through Alabama in 1540. The General's writings are colorful and colloquial. No attempt has been made to improve his grammar or spelling. The publishers feel that it is far more interesting to the reader, perhaps, to keep the book just as Woodward penned it. And so it is. |
