Old St. Stephens's land Office Records & American State Papers Public Lands - This book, dealing with records from the St. Stephens Land Office, is the secod in a series of books on the early alabama Land Offices, the first having been on the Cahaba Land Office. Contained in this book are the Spanish Land Grants, six ledders of the St. Stephens Land Office, and Vol.1of the American state papers, Old Series, covering the time span from 1768 to 1888 with references as far back as 1745. Over 6,000 early settlers in what is now the state of Alabama and the southern portion of the State of Mississippi anr listed. The primary purpose of this compilation is as an aide to researchers in locating these early settlers. |
